Apple II Computer ROM Card with AppleSoft ROMs an Apple II firmware card Has AppleSoft ROM chips dated in 1978 & 1979
When the switch is in the UP (A) position the computer boots from this card and loads Applesoft II Integer Basic into memory
A / B switch on the back switches out the 12K space provided by the six ROMs on the card for the six ROMs on the motherboard.
Programmer's Aid#1 ROM as well that switches that so you could use either the card's ROMs (
9613B mask ROMs from Apple
) or the motherboard ROMs.
The switch was handy because you could start a game that trapped the reset and then toggle the switch, press reset and you would end up in the monitor instead of program being trapped (see screenshots of Apple II in ROM mode showing current memory assembler). A

From Apple's Contact Newsletter volume 2, dated 6/78:
"APPLESOFT II - The new APPLE- SOFT has arrived. It's an expanded version of Microsoft's floating-point BASIC, with 9-digit arithmetic and a large function library that makes it ideal for business and scientific programs. Easy to use and powerful, APPLESOFT II's capabilities include high-resolution graphics routines;DATA STORE/RECALL statements that allow saving vari- ables to tape; IN# and PR# state- ments to simplify peripheral use; and an ONERRGOTO command to allow user-specified error-handling routines.
The tape version (P/N A2T0004) costs , and is available now at your APPLE dealer. A ROM card version (P/N A2B0009), which plugs into slot 0, has hardware and software switching to select either Integer or APPLESOFT BASIC. It frees up 10K of RAM space for your programs. Available in July, the APPLESOFT ROM card's regular price is 0; but through July 31 only, it will be introductory- priced at 0 a genuine bargain."
