Description
Presented is an antique, early 19th century set of 8 French sterling silver dinner forks made by Pierre Philippe Rousseau during the 1810s. The forks are French 1st standard 950 purity silver, which is actually higher than 925 sterling silver purity. The handles are done in a classic Fiddle Thread pattern and the backs have a monogram of the name JAM Lean.The back of each fork is marked with the rooster mark used between 1809 and 1819, the French guarantee mark and a maker’s mark for Pierre Philippe Rousseau.
This set is in great overall condition for its age. There is wear commensurate with age and use and there are knife marks to the tines.
