Description
Presented is a wonderful quality French silver serving or platter spoon. This is a pre-Revolution piece, dating to 1775. The spoon is made from French first standard silver, which has a purity of 950. It's worth noting that this is a higher purity than sterling, which is 925. The spoon is done in a lovely traditional Fiddle Thread pattern. The back of the handle has an old monogram of IP, while the front has a newer monogram of C.L.W.F to M.L.P.The spoon is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The stem of the spoon has the crowned A Paris large article charge mark as it was used between 1775-1781, a date mark of a crowned M for 1775, and a French maker's mark. This piece is tested and guaranteed 950 purity silver.
The spoon is about 12 1/2 inches long.
The spoon weighs 170 grams or 6.0 regular ounces.
