    Description

Presented is a fine antique French silver goblet or cup made by a Paris silversmith between 1783-1789. The cup is done in French 950 purity silver, a slightly higher purity than sterling silver. It has an elegant smooth finish design with little impressed medallions and dots in the base, a threaded rim, and a nice, applied band about halfway down the cup.
The cup is hallmarked on the underside with the Paris charge mark of a crowned A, used between 1783-1789 for French first standard 950 purity silver and a maker’s mark of P.C with a glyph above it. Unfortunately the glyph is too worn to decipher. There also appears to be another hallmark , barely visible, an L with a crown above. This hallmark is far too worn to photograph. The cup is also stamped twice, below the rim and on the base, with a little shell or clam mark. We are not sure what this mark is.
The condition is excellent. There are a few small and minor dents. Let the photos be your guide. There are no splits, no breaks, and no repairs.
The cup measures about 2 1/2 inches in diameter and 2 1/2 inches tall.
The weight is 36.8 grams or 1.3 ounces.
