his handsome antique French carving set features horn handles joined to the blades with silver collars. The blade of the knife is stamped “
Aux 2 Lions
”, along with the maker’s mark consisting of two lion's heads. It is also stamped “
Acier
forgé
”, indicating that the upper parts are steel. The horn handles display lovely nuanced colors and the ferrules, or collars, are elegantly designed with two rows of beading. This set is offered in its original  burgundy case,  lined in green velvet and silk. The case shows some discoloration of the velvet, tears in the fabric lining of the cover, a broken hinge and wear on the outside. The carving set itself is in very good condition with the exception of a small crack in the fork handle and a few chips on the knife handle, not unusual for bone handles and commensurate with age and normal use. Please refer to the detailed photos on this pages. This 19th
