Description
Antique French Crystal Bowl With Hallmarked Sterling Silver RimA distinctive classical antique French cut crystal and hallmarked sterling silver rim bowl from the late 1800s/early 1900s.
The ornate sterling silver rim features an intertwined oak leaf pattern, topped by a beaded trim. It is hallmarked with the French Minerva ’first’ mark indicating .950 silver purity. It also has the French maker’s mark of Emile Langlois of Paris (1888-1924), a glove with an E and L on either side. It is in excellent condition, with virtually no signs of visible wear except for a small area underneath the rim that is slightly bent.
The crystal bowl, which features a starburst and lattice design, is in in very good condition, no cracks or fissures, only a few very minor nicks. The bowl’s rim, which is hidden under the silver rim, has some tiny chips. There are some slight wear marks on the bottom, commensurate with the item’s age.
Measures 6 1/2” in diameter and 2 1/2” tall.
