Antique French Sterling Silver and Vermeil Serving Set, Boxed

Description

This is a very unique, French Sterling Silver and Vermeil utensil serving set, in its original box. The set consists of two pieces: a large knife/slicer and server; each one has a sterling handle and a vermeil business end with a unique decorative inlay.  Each sterling silver piece is marked with
the Minverva stamp.  The French silver maker mark is stamped, but hard to fully read.  Very light scratching to the vermeil ends of each piece.
In France the setting of the table is as important as the food that is served. This is very evident in the way all the utensils are preserved and cherished, with their original boxes intact. This is one such set, the utensils are used lovingly and the box has seen its share of drawers. This is evidenced by some wear to the inside silk lining and there is wear to the paper cover on the corners and top of the wooden box.
