AppleCD SC CD-ROM Drive Macintosh Model M2850

Up for sale is an original
AppleCD SC
single speed external CD-ROM drive for the Macintosh and Apple IIgs, model number
M2850
. This unit has been stripped, cleaned, lubricated, and tested working good. I tested the drive by loading an original Apple Performa CD on the drive and launching some applications on the CD. Single speed CD-ROMs are slow, but it works great (see picture). Unit injects and ejects CD caddy with no issues.
Overall, the drive is in good condition. The case has good color, however it does have a few scratches and more notably, 2 distinct cracks in the case: 1 on the front and 1 on the top left corner. Additionally, the power and activity lights did not work on this unit. I recapped the SCSI board (where the LEDs source their power from) but that did not fix them. So I wired a +5v w/220ohm resister lead from a power connector for the power light and it works great. Even though Apple used high-quality Nichicon capacitors on these and the power supply was working just fine, I partially recapped the power supply with capacitors I had in-stock for good measure.
The drive comes with 2 CD caddies and a SCSI terminator. Sorry, I do not have a spare SCSI cable.
