    Divine French Sterling Silver 950/1000 & Cut Crystal Pitcher / Jug
    This is a divine silver and cut crystal pitcher / jug made in France circa 1890. Decorated at the lid with a central embossed flower surrounded by an elegant frieze of parallel lines with crossed ribbons appliqués and thumb-piece adorned with embossed leaves. The hand cut bellied crystal body is in great antique condition bearing an important solid crystal handle and spout. Silverwork in very good condition with fine gold gilding to the interior of the lid, just a press mark to the interior near the spout slightly seen from outsive and marked with arrow, see picture please. Hallmarked ‘Minerva Head 1’ for highest French silver standard 950/1000, purer than sterling...marked at the lid with typical insect anvil mark to the reverse and at the security ring with together with the lozenge mark...it also has the lozenge at the rim of the lid. The security ring can be opened after removing the hinge pin. The crystal is in great condition, no chips or cracks. MEASUREMENTS: 7 7/8” to the highest point with the thumb piece and 6 ¼” across to the widest point with handle, 30.70 oz (870 grams).
