    Description

A beautiful and rare piece of small silver.  I believe this to be a match box with the bottom insert as the strike.  Top of the box measures 55 mm by 36 mm and height is 22 mm.  On the rim of the box we have a French First Standard mark of the type used 1919-38 along with a diamond maker's mark for Gustave Keller.  Also has G.KELLER impressed on rim.  Inside of the lid there is a foreign silver guarantee mark of the type used from 1819-38.  The style of this piece is classical and I think it of the Napoleon III era with older standard and guarantee marks used.  Piece weighs 69g.  Has the interlaced script L
symbol (seen on early Sevres porcelain) engraved on the top.  Interior is gold washed but is dirty.  There is one ding on the lid that I tried to get a photo of.  Box closes tightly and there are no breaks on the striking surface.
