ABOUT:
This rare chatelaine piece would make an excellent conversation piece when worn as a pendant.  I have had several chatelaine pieces over the years but I have never seen one with inlaid seed pearls in the silver.  The design consists of little engraved fleur de lis all over the body of the piece, and they are inlaid with 18 seed pearls total.
The wax seal / stamp has an extendable handle when you pull the loop.  Then the seal tip screws off to reveal chatelaine pencil parts but please
NOTE - the pencil is not functioning.
When you pull the loop to extend the piece, the pencil should telescope out the tip of the pencil
but it is jammed inside.
I am not sure if this is possible to have fixed or what that would involve so
I am selling it as is -
as a chatelaine wax seal / stamp that is inlaid with pearls, has an extendable handle, and just happens to have pencil components inside : )
NO MONOGRAMS - the seal is blank.
This is an antique Belle Epoque era piece that I acquired in France.
Chain in photos is not included, it is just a modern costume chain from Target that I use for staging : ).
MEASUREMENTS:
The piece measures 3 inches in length with the handle extended.  Pushed together it is about 2 inches.
HALLMARKS:
There is a silversmith maker's mark on the loop.  I don't see a silver mark, it may have been on the loop at worn but it is solid silver and is guaranteed as such.  No underlying metal even under strong magnification so it is not silver plate.
IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES:
Please note that all my pieces are pre-owned with some age to them so they are in estate condition.  Pencil does not work.  When you pull the handle, you can pull the two pieces apart completely as the inner pencil mechanism is broken.  But you can extend the handle to a point to lengthen the seal functionality. The seal part you kind of have to push on and turn to get it tight.  But then it stays affixed firmly and is in no danger of coming off.  It does have age appropriate wear but surprisingly I don't see any deep dings or dents.  Some nicks, some stubborn tarnish spots especially on the bottom of the seal.  Still a really cool and very rare piece!
But - Please note that due to age, this piece is not in mint condition.
I would be delighted if you'd follow me in my store.  Thanks for stopping by!
